We are planning to start our website. I’m confused about where to buy a domain. Which platform is truly cost-effective for a small nonprofit?
As someone who helps nonprofits with tech, here’s what I suggest based on price, ease of use, and support:
- Transparent pricing – they sell at cost, no hidden markups
- Renewal prices don’t jump – unlike some providers
- Good if you want predictable, stable pricing
Cloudflare is the recommended option, but if you prefer any other services
1. Porkbun
- Very cheap – often the lowest price (5-10$ per year)
- Good support – patient, helpful for beginners
- Best choice if you want the most value
- Note: Onboarding may require identity verification (KYC), but it’s worth it
2. Namecheap
- Affordable – fair pricing, especially the first year
- Easy to use – clear interface, good for non-tech people
- A solid, reliable option after Porkbun
Avoid using GoDaddy because of its Poor support, Hidden fees & upsells.
